- Lay sod in a staggered, brick-like pattern, perpendicular to slopes.
- Butt edges tightly without stretching or overlapping. Trim corners as needed.
- Avoid leaving small strips at edges—they dry out quickly.
- Work from the backyard toward the front to prevent walking on new sod.
- Optional: Use a drum roller on damp sod to ensure firm soil contact.

- Begin watering immediately after laying each section (~200 sq. ft.).
- Keep the soil under the sod moist to 1.5-2 inches deep.
- Use sprinklers, hoses, or irrigation, rotating as you lay the remaining sod.
- Water multiple times per day during the first 1–2 weeks until roots establish.
- Check by lifting corners after first watering to ensure soil is wet.
